Participating in Summer School will provide friendship, personal growth and a lot of laughs, however, please do not underestimate the impact that participating in the show will have on your life. You should expect that the show will take up significant amounts of your time on the weekends and on evenings. You may experience additional pressure such as learning lyrics, lines and dance routines all while balancing your other pre-existing commitments. There are also other non-compulsory but fun extracurricular activities such as post-rehearsal drinks, cast parties and other social events.
We would encourage you to consider the following tips for surviving Summer School:
Carefully consider your other commitments such as work, school and/or university prior to committing to the production
Maintain relationships with your friends and family
Communicate early! Let friends, family and your employer know that you are participating in Summer School and may require additional support and/or flexibility during the rehearsal and production period
Get lots of sleep
Maintain a healthy and regular diet
Depending on your circumstances, you may wish to consider taking leave from your regular employment during the production weeks. Most cast will need to consider leave from their employment for at least the Launceston show run.
